Common questions

How is my delta calculated?

Green Hour subtracts your second rating from your first. That is the whole calculation. If you rated yourself a 4 before heading out and a 7 when you got back, that session's delta is +3.

Your emotions are never scored. No feeling is worth more or less than any other, and the only number involved is the 0 to 10 you gave yourself.

Why does a day count toward my streak with no check-ins?

Because going outside is the point, not logging it. If you started a session that day, the day counts, whether or not you checked in either side of it.

My delta went down. Did I do something wrong?

No. Some days outside won't lift you, and the app is built to show that without making a fuss about it. Those days appear in muted amber, never red, and they are just as much part of your picture as the good ones.

Where is my data stored? Can I get it back if I lose my phone?

Everything stays on your device. There is no account and no server, which means nothing is uploaded, but it also means there is no backup we can restore from. Your data is included in an encrypted iPhone or iCloud device backup, so restoring a backup restores Green Hour along with it.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual sessions from the History tab: press and hold a session, then choose Delete. Deleting the app removes everything at once, since nothing is stored anywhere else.

Importing from Apple Health found nothing

Green Hour only imports outdoor walks, runs, rides, swims and hikes. Indoor workouts are filtered out, and anything already imported is skipped so you never get duplicates. If you have no matching workouts recorded, there will be nothing to bring in.

Check access is allowed in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Health, then Green Hour.

Why doesn't the app show my exact sunset time?

Without your location, the app can't know your real sunset, so it stays vague rather than telling you something that could be an hour off. Turning on "Exact sunset times" in Settings gives it one approximate, city-level reading and it can then show real times. It is entirely optional and the app works fully without it.

Green Hour only ever knows where the sun is, never what the weather is doing. It can't see the sky.

I bought Plus but it isn't showing

Open the paywall and choose Restore purchases, making sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. It is also on the Plus card in Settings. If it still doesn't appear, email us.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals and Plus stays active until the end of the paid period.

I can't afford Plus

Then it's yours. Open the paywall and tap Can't afford it? at the bottom. Plus unlocks on your device immediately. There is no proof to provide, no email to give, and nothing is sent anywhere. If things change later, Settings has an "I can pay now" option.
